About a month ago, THIS Vancouver wedding photographer was so incredibly lucky to photograph a gorgeouuuuus wedding in the Playa Del Carmen region in Mexico .. :) I have been wanting to start shooting destination weddings for so long and I am off to a good start! A Mexico wedding last year, a chic Quebec wedding this June and this November, sunshine and colours and warm weather!

I met Rhonda and Jacky at a bridal show a year ago but in the process, I feel so lucky to say that we’ve become friends! They are two of the nicest people I know and I am so so so so grateful to be there to photograph the most special day of their lives. After a beautiful engagement session on Westham Island (which you can see here) I was so eager to photograph their wedding in Mexico.

I had to wait a while (a year can go by quite quickly, right?) but the day couldn’t have been more beautiful or make me or the couple happier (who literally walked around ALL day with one of the most genuine smiles I have ever seen). It’s so nice to see couples enjoy their wedding day and leaving the rest to their wedding coordinators! I can’t stress how helpful it is to hire a wedding coordinator, at least for the day of the wedding. You get to have the reassurance that everything will go well and you get to really, truly, enjoy yourself in the process as opposed to worrying about every little detail.

The wedding took place at the Dreams Puerto Aventuras Resort & Spa, one of the most photogenic resorts I’ve seen (for weddings). With its gazebo, right over the water, the waves, the colourful rocks, the blue blue blue of the ocean, it’s an insane amount of eye candy for a photographer. I spent the week with such a wonderful group of family and friends who made us feel a part of the family and I made friends, ate amazing food and took a few photos here and there ;)

I was also lucky to have a day-after shoot in Playa Del Carmen with the gorgeous Mexican architecture, busy crowds and peaceful beaches.

The hotel wedding coordinators did SUCH an amazing job with wedding decorations, making the gazebo look rustic and soft and vintage and oh so elegant in the process. Christine at The Frugal Travelers was AMAZING in planning the trip throughout the year and making sure everything went smoothly for the entire group (including tailoring to special diets).

Overall, I had such an amazing time and got some wonderful images (to choose just a few was a difficult process indeed)! Below are some of my absolute favourites from the day!
