Best of 2015: The Wedding Detail

Best of 2015: The Wedding Detail

I am getting around to doing a best of 2015 series … and with such a wonderful year, I thought about it and decided it could ONLY be a series. I figured rather than have a blog post with over 100 photos (easily!), I would break it down into several categories. I truthfully haven’t thought it out in great detail but I’m winging it and loving it so far. I have decided to start with details because, who doesn’t love some eye candy? :) I will also have a black and white series, an engagement series, a bridal party series, a bride and groom series and a just the bride and just the groom series. At the end of it all, I’m also going to have a slideshow showcasing my favourite moments (incorporating personal memories as well). It really has been a beautiful year … from a wedding in Mexico, to a gorgeous Persian wedding with a red dress, a regal-looking Indian wedding and stunning detail shots (cowboy boots, unique rings, etc.), two weddings at the Fraser River Fishing Lodge (I LOVE THIS VENUE!) … my first wedding at Hycroft Manor (stunning, dreamy, whimsical venue!), a revisit of Aberthau Mansion (also in my top five), a wedding on Sunshine Coast, two styled shoots and many more!

I honestly wouldn’t be able to choose favourites without breaking it down. So, to start with, some beautiful memories of my favourite flowers, rings, shoes and some overall prettiness. Details are truly one of my favourite things to photograph at a wedding. So many times I’ll get emailed by the bride asking “is the getting ready portion important? I don’t really need photos of that or any details at the reception” .. what blows my mind is the amount of times a bride puts very special thought into a lot of these details … I have had so many weddings that incorporated a TON of DIY decor with sometimes going as far as to even make their own accessories. When I tell them it truly is one of my favourite parts to photograph, they often change their minds and are so very happy they did. A wedding photo album should be a story of the WHOLE day … and that includes all the hard work that went into organizing such a lavish, beautiful affair. Enjoy!
