Amanda and Bal’s Wedding Featured on The Knot

So happy to have another beautiful wedding featured on The Knot, this time, the intimate and loving nuptials of Amanda and Bal and their close group of family and friends on Granville Island. Amanda and Bal have been together since high school and their love shows again and again. Their beautiful Granville Island wedding was one of the warmest, most intimate events I have ever shot. Revel Events did a great job, award-winning Flower Factory did not disappoint as usual, the venue was magical and the music kept everyone dancing through the night. I absolutely love these two, their family and friends and the vintage, incredibly romantic style that brought everything together.

From The Knot:

High school sweethearts Amanda Yu (31 and a project manager) and Bal Kang (31 and a research scientist) had a simple wedding at Dockside Restaurant, located on Granville Island in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. “I don’t think I took any photos of them where they weren’t smiling or laughing about something,” their photographer Roxana Albusel says. The couple wanted an intimate wedding with only their closest family and friends. “We wanted a small wedding that allowed us to have meaningful interactions with everyone we love,” Amanda says. The event was beautifully executed by Revel Events, with floral design provided by The Flower Factory. Amanda and Bal were married outdoors at a park near the restaurant. Amanda’s brothers played guitar as she walked down the aisle in a knee length lace wedding dress with a greens sash. She carried a summery bouquet with garden roses, peonies, succulents and dusty miller. Bal looked handsome in a gray suit and a pale green tie. “We weren’t interested in being too traditional with our wedding fashion,” Amanda says. “We wanted attire that reflected our personal styles.” Instead of a sit-down dinner at their reception, Amanda and Bal elected to have a cocktail party with their favorite finger foods for their guests to munch on. They had their guests take polaroid selfies for the guest book, and they gave them small potted succulents as favours.

“Your wedding should be a reflection of who you are as a couple,” Amanda says. “The more authentic you are to yourself, the happier you’ll be.”
